This is a ridiculously late review but my husband and I have been staying at Crookey Cottage every December for the past few years and I can’t recommend it enough. Eddie and Hazel are such lovely, warm people who will make you feel right at home. The cottage is so cosy and comfortable, and the breakfasts will keep you going all morning! There are so many great walks in the surrounding area and Crookey is just such a lovely place to come back to after a (usually very wet) hike. You MUST try one of Hazel’s spa treatments. I always make sure to have a treatment when we stay and honestly have never felt so relaxed in my life. Hazel has a gift! This place is a gem. See you again soon, Eddie and Hazel 🙂

                     Lake District B&B

We’ve been b&b user’s for years and we have not stayed in a better one. Ed and Hazel who run crookey cottage are loverly couple and nothing is to much trouble . The room we have is well appointed well decorated but still has loads of character as for the free use of the lounge … Log burner, exposed beams, cottage furniture what’s not to like . All in all a fabulous place

               Home Sweet Home

Approaching Crookey Cottage you just know you wont be disappointed. It’s a treasure. After a warm welcome from Hazel we knew we’d found a gem. The setting is amazing. The lovely old cottage has an ethereal quality which cant be conjured up. Hazel and Eddie (who we unfortunately missed) are obviously putting their hearts into this business and it shows. We stayed in the ensuite bedroom at the top of the old drunken stairs. A total chill out with a very comfy bed! Along with a very scrummy breakfast and a fabulous view from the breakfast table you couldn’t ask for more. It was hard to leave. Sadly we only stayed one night but we certainly hope to return one day.

Wonderful traditional farmhouse B&B

Spent a relaxing Autumn weekend at Crookey cottage – an ideal base for lots of lovely walks in the Patterdale area. Eddie and Hazel were great hosts offering a warm and cosy sanctuary in a beautiful valley. The guest bedroom was beautifully finished – we loved the oak doors that Hazel’s Uncle had made and the handmade mohair throw that Hazel’s mum makes. Breakfast was all locally sourced and cooked to order with fresh eggs from their hens and homemade bread and jams. A really relaxing environment which we thoroughly enjoyed and would return to. buy modafinil in india MsFussyScotland – November 2011

Perfect 17th Century farm and delicious food to boot!

We walked to Patterdale over the fells from Grasmere in October and got there in the dark, wet and cold. We were welcomed to a warm beautiful 17th century cottage by Hazel who dried our clothes and ushered us up to our beautiful and spotless room for tea and showers. Hazel was full of tips about where to get a nice dinner. Breakfast was delicious served up by Hazel and Eddie in a lovely little dining room. We had a fried breakfast of local produce, homemade bread, fruit, cereals and lots of tea. It was a beautiful place to stay and we would thoroughly recommend it before it gets too popular and you can’t get a booking.. sceptically EricaCP – October 2011

Warm Crookey, B&B heaven

I stayed here with my two brother-in-law’s for a weekend of walking. Hazel and Eddie running the B&B are delightful, warm, genuine people that were easy to get along with. The place has a great farmhouse feel with majestic views towards Patterdale and the far reaching hills. It was spotless and clean with good facilities. A little more thought has gone into this establishment in it décor and detailing, an example of this is even the tea making facilities in the room used real milk not bland UHT. Breakfast was a true delight with the porridge starter followed by full ‘English’ serve with home made fresh bread with tea or coffee. Even the pack lunches were excellent with my brother-in-law saying ‘that is the best cheese sandwich I have ever had’. I will definitely stay there again and would highly recommend this B&B. I never had the need to test any drying facilities so can’t comment, however I am sure Eddie and Hazel would arrange something suitable.

Just what we were looking for

We were welcomed warmly by Eddie, A knowledgeable resident, in this, old, tradtional home. Our room w/bath was very comfortable and beautifully appointed. Breakfast was a delight. If you’re looking for an “English” experience, you can’t go wrong here. We loved every minute. Also, Mary produces and has for sale gorgeous mohair blend yarns and many made-up yarn products.
