Wherever possible, our breakfast ingredients are sourced locally; from nearby farm shops, as well as award-winning Penrith Butcher Cranstons.
Our bread is handmade the old-fashioned way, using a sourdough starter and organic flours from Little Salkeld’s Watermill.
There’s always a choice of homemade preserves, organic yoghurts and real fruit juices, as well as a range of teas and great coffee. The ultimate locally-sourced ingredients have got to be the eggs from our own free-range hens, whom you’ll no doubt meet during your stay.

If you’re heading out into the fells, we can send you on your way with a delicious packed lunch for £7.00 per person.
There’s nothing quite like homemade bread for sandwiches after a morning’s climb – one guest even remarked “that is the best cheese sandwich I have ever had!”
We are happy to accommodate any special dietary requirements, and usually have gluten-free bread and cereal in stock – just let us know what you need when making your booking.
